Ioannis Tsamardinos, Scientific Council Committee Member on Data & AI State Policies

Ioannis Tsamardinos, Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Crete and CEO & Co-founder at JADBio, was appointed as Committee Member on the sectoral Scientific Council regarding Data and AI Policies for the Greek National Council for Research, Technology, and Innovation.

The councils, established by the Greek Deputy Minister of Development & Investment Mr. Ch. Dimas, in November 2020, will support the state’s National Council for Research, Technology, and Innovation. The Council is the highest advisory body of the state in matters of research and innovation, and the participants in the Sectoral Scientific Councils will offer their knowledge and experience.

The 9 Sectoral Scientific Councils have been established in the following areas:

– Engineering Sciences

– Informatics

– Science and Mathematics

– Agrotechnology and Nutrition

– Environmental Sciences, Energy and Sustainable Mobility

– Human Resources and Skills

– Data Policy and Artificial Intelligence

– Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property

– Tourism, Culture, and Creative Industries

The main objective of the SSCs is monitoring and updating national, European, and international developments in the specific scientific fields and the submission of relevant proposals to the National Council for Research, Technology, and Innovation. SSCs will also be responsible for submitting proposals for the design of flagship initiatives that are important for the country and the more effective connection of scientific research with innovation and entrepreneurship.
