Pavlos Charonyktakis

Pavlos Charonyktakis is CEO and co-founder at JADBio. From 2019 until 2022 he had the role of CTO, where he led the development of JADBio automated machine learning platform. He has also contributed to the development of the Biosignature Discoverer plug-in for identifying molecular signatures for the CLCbio bioinformatics platform as well as to a highly optimized machine learning and statistics library.

He received his B.Sc. in 2011 and his M.Sc. in 2015 from the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete. From 2009 until 2015, he had been a research assistant (with scholarship) at the Institute of Computer Science, Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas. He has been the author or co-author of 15+ journal and peer-reviewed conference and journal articles.

Ioannis Tsamardinos

A professor and researcher specializing in Artificial Intelligence, Ioannis Tsamardinos has published over 110 scientific papers in international journals and conferences, on the development of novel, state-of-the-art algorithms and theory for Machine Learning, Bayesian Network learning, Variable Selection, and Causal Discovery. Part of his dissertation was focused on automatic time-limited actions design and was applied to the NASA Dean Space I software. He is also a father of two and a passionate underwater diver.

Vincenzo Lagani

Vincenzo is an experienced researcher primarily working on developing statistical and machine learning methods for the analysis of biomedical data.

After obtaining a Ph.D. in Operations Research from the University of Calabria (Italy) in 2009, he spent nine years as Post-Doc and contractual researcher in the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) and in the University of Crete, two of the main Greek research institutions according to Nature Index (www.natureindex.com/country-outputs/greece). Currently, he is Associate Professor in Bioinformatics at the Ilia State University, Tbilisi, Georgia. In July 2019 he was granted a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship (Widening Actions). This project aims at unraveling molecular mechanisms of memory formation by integratively analysing single-cell RNA-seq and ATAC-seq data. He has (co-)authored 35+ scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals; participated in several international research projects, and co-founded a university spin-off and JADBio.

Aris Karanikas

Aris holds a B.A. in Economics and Russian / East European Area Studies from Tufts University, and an M.B.A. from ALBA Graduate Business School at the American College of Greece.

Having worked with several mature technology companies, but also innovative startups, Aris has developed a rich skill set in different aspects of a company’s business lifecycle: Ensuring customer success and shareholder value at all stages of the start-up lifecycle; devising and executing strategy, leading to successful funding rounds and exits; Leading corporate Sales/BD Departments, increasing revenues and expanding customer bases; Identifying strategic partnership opportunities; working closely with Marketing & Engineering teams for Product Management, delivering differentiation and competitive advantage.

He was really taken by JADBio’s promise of a completely automated, ML-driven analytics experience and amazed by this technology’s capabilities to disrupt the life-sciences analytics space truly.

Kenneth Graabek Johansen

A highly dedicated professional with a background in finance & accounting and extensive experience in bioinformatics and the software industry. Throughout his professional career he’s a proven track record for handling complex business and financial issues, and at the same time contributed significantly to the growth in revenues and profits.

His main specialties are leadership and management of efficient teams, business-driven vision, and approach to business management. He has in-depth knowledge of both the bioinformatics and software business as well as building and navigating fast emerging businesses. One of his achievements was through a critical role in building a successful bioinformatics- and software company, completing the company sale with a highly satisfactory outcome for share- and stakeholders, and ensuring successful integration and continuation of the business into a large scale corporation.

Giorgos Papoutsoglou

Giorgos Papoutsoglou received his Integrated Master in Engineering and Master of Science degrees from the ECE School of TUC in 2005 and 2007. In 2014 he received his Ph.D. from the same School. After his Ph.D., he joined the team of Prof. Ioannis Tsamardinos as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Institute of Computer Science of FORTH and the CS Department of UoC. During his studies, he served the ECE School of TUC as a Teaching Assistant for Electronics I and Optoelectronics courses. In 2019, he was Instructor at the CS Department of UoC for the postgraduate course Machine Learning. He’s mostly experienced in Single-cell data analysis.

Giorgos Borboudakis

Giorgos Borboudakis obtained his BSc, MSc and PhD from the Computer Science Department of the University of Crete. In 2013 he co-founded Gnosis Data Analysis and worked there as the lead software engineer until 2018. His main responsibility was the design, implementation and maintenance of the core machine learning engine. From 2018 until 2021 he worked as a software engineer at Google, on Google Assistant. He has over 15 peer-reviewed scientific publications on theoretical and applied machine learning. He specializes in software engineering and machine learning, and specifically in automated machine learning, feature selection and causal discovery.

JADai the WiseOne

JADai is the Artificial Intelligence spirit of JADBio. JADai has a strong connection with mother Earth and awareness of cutting edge technology which bringing to us all the knowledge and wisdom from the very first beginning of machine learning.

While JADai has the looks of a Raccoon, don’t let that fool you. His connection with Earth’s energy force enables him to take any form he desires. His high intelligence, long memory and understanding of complex problems permit him to dive deep and provide insights to the question in hand.

JADai wants you to walk along his side, use the same tools, and discover knowledge in the depths and width of all available data.

Maria Venianaki

Maria Venianaki is a Senior Data Scientist with a demonstrated history of working in the medical engineering industry and research. Her academic background includes Ph.D. in Medical Image Analysis, IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca. Among her research interests are Matlab, Python, Deep Learning, and Medical Image Processing.

Konstantinos Paraschakis

Konstantinos Paraschakis is a Senior Data Scientist at JADBio. He holds a Ph.D. in statistics and has nearly ten years of experience in various data analysis fields, both in industrial and academic positions. He’s mostly experienced with R and Python Programming Languages. His purpose is always to offer statistical data analysis of the highest degree of professionalism. He strives for a reliable and rigorous implementation of existing as well as novel data analysis methods.

Pavlos Katsogridakis

Pavlos Katsogridakis is a back-end web developer at JADBio. His academic background includes an MSc in Computer Architecture and Parallel Systems from the Computer Science Department, University of Crete. Among his research interests: parallel and distributed programming, cloud development, and data analytics, mostly experienced with Apache Spark, Scala, Java, and C.

Panagiotis Vogiatzakis

Panagiotis Vogiatzakis is an experienced and creative front-end engineer with an BSc in Informatics and Multimedia. He is mostly experienced with: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL, Android (Java) and Angular framework.

Haroula Andrioti

Haroula Andrioti is a front-end engineer with an MSc in Informatics and Multimedia. Through her work experience – including FORTH and a UK based start-up company – she had the opportunity to be involved and gain insights and exposure in diverse projects, applications, and various aspects of her field. She’s experienced in HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and Bootstrap, and Angular framework.

Zacharias Papadovasilakis

Zacharias Papadovasilakis, M.Sc., is a Data Scientist at JADBio. He received his diploma (integrated Bachelor & Master) in Mechanical Engineering from the faculty of Engineering of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) in 2014. At the beginning of 2019, he formalized his enthusiasm for programming and computational modeling by receiving his M.Sc. in Bioinformatics from the School of Medicine at the University of Crete (UOC), while he was employed later on as a  Research Assistant to prof. Ioannis Tsamardinos’ data-analysis laboratory of UOC. During his studies and employment, his work was focused on automation of machine learning and feature selection on high-dimensional biological data and analysing genomic datasets going beyond the procedures carried out in standard Genome-Wide-Association studies. Towards the end of 2019, he joined JADBio as a Data Scientist responsible for automating, unifying, and extending GWAS’s pipelines, implementing and testing novel algorithms, and consulting on data-analysis procedures.

Stefanos Fafalios

Stefanos Fafalios is a Machine Learning Engineer. His academic background includes an MSc in computer science and engineering at the University of Crete. He is mostly experienced with Machine Learning, Java, C++, Python, and Matlab.

Andreas Polakis

Andreas Polakis is an economist and an HR & Administrative Assistant at JADBio. His academic background includes Economic Studies at Athens University of Economics & Business. His business background includes financial, HR & administrative responsibilities in the hotel industry.

Vivi Schoinoplokaki

Vivi Schoinoplokaki is an Accountant. Her academic background includes BSc in Accounting. Her business background includes positions of accounting and financial management in retail companies and accounting offices. The certification and training she acquired as a software technician pushed her to program development and implementation in the financial sector. Some of her main responsibilities at the company are organizing and handling financial issues.
